The relationship between Roma and Aston Villa that brought Robin Olsen to the Premier League in January could also be extended in this transfer window. That’s if you believe a few transfer rumors currently circulating featuring a Villa player and a Roma player.
Villa are already believed to be keen on securing a permanent deal for Olsen, 32, who made his debut on the dramatic – and ultimately dangerous – final day of the season at Manchester City. Having spent the past two seasons on loan, at Villa, Everton and Sheffield United, the Sweden international certainly looks surplus.
However, Olsen’s situation is not the only one involving the clubs of Jose Mourinho and Steven Gerrard. According to 90min.com, Villa are one of three teams to have ‘contacted’ Roma to bring Tammy Abraham back to Villa Park. Arsenal and Newcastle are also said to have done the same.
Abraham was a success during his loan spell at B6 in the 2018-19 season, scoring 26 goals as Villa returned to the Premier League in the Championship play-offs. Since then, he has remained a favorite of the Villa faithful.
It has also emerged that Mourinho is keen on Douglas Luiz again. Indeed, Corriere Dello Sport claim the 24-year-old is ‘top of the Special One’s wishlist’ and the Brazilian has been in Roma’s sights for several seasons.
