bargarh: Bargarh-nuapada rail link plan obtains agreement in principle | Bhubaneswar News

Bhubaneswar: The Ministry of Railways has given its approval in principle to undertake pre-investment activities for the new line project from Bargarh Road to Nawapara (Nuapada). This 142 km project will connect the Nrusinghanath temple and other important places in the Bargarh district.
Odisha Rail Infrastructure Development Limited (ORIDL), a joint venture between Odisha government (51%) and the Ministry of Railways (49%), had asked Indian Railways to process the project proposal.
The Railways Council, in a letter to ORIDL published on Friday, said: “ORIDL’s proposal has been reviewed by the Ministry of Railways and the competent authority has granted approval in principle. to undertake pre-investment activities for this project. ”
The Council also stated that the cost of the land should be fully borne by the state government and that project execution should not start without financial closure.
On July 30 of last year, Union Minister of Railways Ashwini Vaishnaw told Rajya Sabha that the study of a new line between Bargarh Road and Nawapara Road via Padampur was completed in 2018. -19. The project was operationally unjustified, as such it could not be continued, the response reads.
However, ORIDL had identified the project to be developed. Odisha’s government had agreed to bear the cost of the land. The minister had indicated to the upper chamber that the proposal was being considered.
“At present, there is no rail connection to the temple of Nrusinghanath. If this project sees the light of day, it could cover the tourist spot while connecting Bargarh to Nuapada. After the launch of rail communication, this place will attract more tourists and devotees, ”said one resident.
Bargarh residents can save over two hours if they travel to Raipur via Nuapada. They can also save time when traveling to Bhubaneswar. Some places like Bijepur, Padampur, Gaisilet and Paikmal will also benefit from rail connectivity.
