Derby County takeover news LIVE – Kirchner latest offer, Rooney link to Burnley, Fulham construction

Derby County Championship free agents could look in the summer transfer window

The free agent signing is expected to feature prominently in Derby County’s team rebuild this summer. This was the case for the current season, as the Rams found themselves under a transfer embargo, and still do during their administration.

Chris Kirchner has been named the directors’ preferred bidder and the American businessman is working to finalize a takeover of the club. Once the takeover is complete, the Rams will still operate under an agreed-upon business plan, which will likely mean signings will be free agents and loans.

Derby are hoping to offer new contracts to some of the club’s players whose contracts are due to expire at the end of this season. Manager Wayne Rooney underlined the scale of the rebuild when he said he believed they needed 40 players split across the first team and Under-23 teams.

Asked about it, future owner Kirchner said: “I don’t know the exact number, but it’s something like that. Lots of free transfers are available this summer actually, but it will cost money initially. .”

There are plenty of players whose offers are running out and could be available as free agents this summer. This will include players from Premier League clubs, but here’s a look at who is out of contract at each of the Championship clubs.
