Faridkot Police Establish Solid Link Between Goldy Brar and Murder of Dera Man

With the recovery of decisive physical evidence and the naming of three others as conspirators in the murder of Pardeep Kataria, follower of Dera Sacha Sauda, Faridkot police claimed on Saturday to have established a solid link between the Canadian-based gangster Goldy Brar and the case.

Faridkot Chief Superintendent of Police (SSP), Rajpal Singh, said a murder defendant, Bhola Singh, who is housed in a local jail, became the communication link between Brar and gunmen Manpreet Singh Manni and Bhupinder Singh Goldy.

“Interrogation of the shooters in custody revealed that Brar had contacted Bhola for the execution of the murder plan. Bhola recommended his brother-in-law Manni for the task, who got in touch with Brar. Manni then implicated his friend Bhupinder in the plan,” the SSP said.

Bhola was named as a defendant in the crime on Saturday.

“He has been detained in Faridkot prison for a year and it is about investigating how he managed to contact Brar, who is abroad, from inside,” he said. added.

Follower of Dera, Kataria, 38, accused in the Bargari sacrilege case in 2015, was out on bail at the time of her murder.

On November 17, Director General of Punjab Police (DGP), Gaurav Yadav, said that Goldy Brar, an accomplice of Khalistan terrorist Harvinder Singh alias Rinda and imprisoned mobster Lawrence Bishnoi, was the mastermind of Kataria’s murder.

Two other arrested

Investigators said the six gunmen involved in the crime arrived in Faridkot town in Jaitu on November 9, a day before Kataria was killed. After killing him, they abandoned their motorbikes and fled in two cars waiting for them in Bajakhana, 15 km from the crime scene in Kotkapura.

“Vicky Chauhan and Swaran Singh, who were arrested today, had rented a marriage palace in Jaitu,” the SSP said.

“In a joint operation with the Counterintelligence Wing, we established that the two had provided logistical support, including accommodation, food and clothing, to the six gunners at the station. Both were well aware of the plot of murder. In fact, Swaran took Manni, Bhupinder and another shooter from Haryana, identified as Hooda as of now, who is only one fugitive, after the murder in Chandigarh,” said he added.

Police also recovered the Maruti Ritz car used to drop off the defendants at an unspecified location in Chandigarh from where they drove to different locations.

Two pistols used by Manni and Bhupinder, which were caught in Hoshiarpur on November 17, to eliminate Kataria were also seized.
