Manchester United welcome Brighton to Old Trafford on Tuesday (watch live, 3:15 p.m. ET on Peacock bounty) and Ralf Rangnick’s side are feeling the heat of the front-four battle.

After drawing against Burnley and Southampton last week as they spat advances, the Red Devils are slipping into a very familiar pattern in games. They start well, score early and then cannot maintain the high pace demanded by Rangnick. The German coach has spoken of fourth place as United’s ‘ambition’ this season and although they are in the heat of the battle for fourth place, they feel like they are freezing in terms of confidence. Bruno Fernandes, Cristiano Ronaldo, Harry Maguire and many others are struggling for form at precisely the wrong time of the season, but Jadon Sancho has looked great in recent weeks. To finish in the top four, defensive errors must be corrected and United must be more clinical if they are to qualify for the Champions League.

As for Brighton, well, they continue to hum very well under Graham Potter as they won at Watford last time out. The Seagulls sit in ninth place and look set for a late-season push to try to qualify for Europe. Neal Maupay continues to be their main man and if Brighton finish more chances than they create themselves, they would be in the top four. After seeing Burnley and Southampton take points from United, the Seagulls will really relish their chances of going to Old Trafford and picking up a win.
