Inmarsat is the first connectivity provider for the new Airbus Airspace Link HBCplus offer – SatNews

Airbus threw Connection to HBCplus airspacethe company’s new flexible satellite connectivity solution which will be offered as an SFE (Equipment supplied by the supplier) line-fit catalog option and also in retrofit on all Airbus programs.

HBCpluswhich initially encompasses Ka-band services, will allow airlines to connect to a choice of Managed Service Providers (MSP) via a new certified terminal and a radome integrated into the aircraft. In the future, there are plans to expand HBCplus to include MSPs that offer Ku-band services.

Airbus has selected Inmarsat as the first MSP, bringing its GX Aviation in-flight broadband solution that provides a reliable and seamless passenger experience with global coverage and capacity for future growth. Other MSPs will join the HBCplus offer in due course.

Safran Passengers Innovations (SPI) has been selected as the terminal supplier and hardware integrator of ThinKomCommentProven antenna technology from – targeted for Ka-band services that offers high data throughput and reliability combined with aircraft fuel savings due to the antenna’s low-drag radome.

Airspace Link HBCplus provides SATCOM-based off-board connectivity for the Airspace Link open ecosystem which represents an end-to-end Airbus offering. This solution, which enables the exchange of data as a seamlessly integrated aircraft system, is ideally positioned to unlock future digital service capacity and demand growth, enabling airlines to offer a premium passenger connectivity experience, in an exponentially growing market.
