Rural Affairs Minister Heather Humphreys opened the new natural playground and off-road trail at Dún na Rí Forest Park.
The Dún na Rí Master Plan was recently presented to the public and includes many initiatives and goals aimed at further improving popular enjoyment.
Local Councilor Clifford Kelly said: “All of us at Kingscourt are aware of the enormous asset we have in Dún na Rí Forest Park and I am delighted to see this exciting project get off the ground and look forward to completion. of this natural playground and the I look forward to more exciting developments for Dún na Rí Forest Park as the park master plan is finalized.
“I also look forward to linking with Navan along the rail greenway and north to Louth via Monaghan. This will be of huge benefit to Kingscourt and these are important developments for this region.
“The trail alignment will improve the existing trail and provide new connections for adjacent communities. Projects like this have never been more important and since the pandemic we have seen an explosion in the number of people enjoying the outdoors. and take advantage of our natural assets.”
Cllr Kelly said the newly refurbished toilet block is a testament to the hard work Coillte is doing and the investment in this resource they are undertaking. He also congratulated the workers of the Rural Social Regime (RSS) who do such a good job of maintaining the park and who show such pride in their work.
