Library Link: Summer Magic at the Airdrie Public Library

“All good, all magic happens between the months of June and August. Winters are simply a time to count the weeks until the next summer.” ― Jenny Han, American author.

“All good, all magic happens between the months of June and August. Winters are simply a time to count the weeks until the next summer.” Jenny Han, American author.

This quote from Han, the author of the famous The summer when I became pretty trilogy, everything is said. Summer is where the magic things happen.

Here at the Airdrie Public Library (APL) we see summer as a magical time too, where the marvelous and magic can happen.

Some of our programs, such as Summer Stories and Summer Story Walk, take place in the sun (hopefully it shines) and combine fun in the sun with literacy.

Other programs, like this year’s TD Summer Reading Club, bring hundreds of children into the magical world of legends and myths from history.

Although July is coming to an end very soon, August in APL still offers many magical moments of literacy and learning before taking a break to prepare for the return of fall.

Look for our first-ever Non-Artistic Art Night on August 13 for adults who may not be the most artistic, but still want to create something beautiful.

Summer Movie Night for adults presents the 2001 French cult classic AmelieAugust 20.

The popular Senior Coffee and Conversation returns to the APL foyer on August 10.

Our teen customers have several magical moments in store for August, including Teen Movies, Healthy Minds in Harmony with Stepping Stones, and Crush or Gush, where participants freely share their opinions on what they’re reading this summer.

Of course, the magic continues for preschool programs through August 13, with Rhymes and Songs, Monday Movers, Night Owls, Wacky Wednesdays and Babytime.

Finally, you’ll find our amazing Book Bike at the Airdrie Farmers Market every Wednesday and in Airdrie Parks throughout August. The Library on Wheels lets you borrow or return materials and get your free library card.
