Manchester United’s lasting link with Barcelona would be welcome on one condition – Mike Parrott

When you are a club the size of Manchester United, there is rarely a way to avoid links with all kinds of players. Ousmane Dembele is a player who has been heavily linked with a move to Old Trafford.

Despite his incredible talent, Dembele struggled with injuries throughout his career which was often the main issue that held him back and ultimately saw him out of favor at Barcelona.

In Men’s facebook live deadline, united in my mind the regular duo of Mike Parrott and Casey Evans discussed all the gossip and potential moves, including Dembele links.

THIS “Many reports from France, Spain and across Europe link Ousmane Dembele with an £18m move to Manchester United. I think Chelsea were in the mix as well, and I think PSG have also been thrown into the mix.

“Our Chief Reporter, Samuel Lukchurst, said on his Twitter that based on his understanding and the information he has received, United have not registered a formal offer for Dembele nor are they looking to sign him. They feel like the part that unites them is just being thrown into the mix to try to drum up interest from offshore.

“I know he had injury problems, but on that day he was a fantastic player. You would get what Barcelona paid £130m for around £20m, and I think that what we’ve seen so far this season is that we have a real problem where creativity on the pitch is an issue.

“I think Paul Pogba is coming back which will help that obviously Bruno Fernandes is their program, Sancho, and then after that it’s a lot of forwards and a lot of defensive eyes, a lot of midfield work, and we maybe need more creativity.”

deputy : “I think it’s a big thing regardless of the transfer fee and what people have to consider for his salary as well. Let’s say we only get him for £20m; he’s on £300,000. per week, so we’re in the same situation we’ve been in for years that we’re still trying to recover.

“Where we are trying to get rid of these players so that we can save some money because we have given them such inflated wages that no one will buy them permanently.

So that’s always a worry because, yes, you could get that player on the cheap, but he could have a four-year contract now where he’s got absurd wages, he could be injured for the majority, and then we don’t we can’t sell it.

“So that’s a bit of my concern. If you could come in for cheap, though, in terms of salary, then I wouldn’t be against it too much. Maybe if you could give him that redemption shot that we’ve seen with the likes of Philippe Coutinho doing a bit better with Aston Villa. He did well at Bayern Munich when he was loaned out there.

“What if he could come back a little better, not saying he was going to be that world champion that everyone thought he was going to be years ago. But if he showed a little more talent, he could be a great player and obviously can play on both wings.”
