Notre Dame coach Link Jarrett says loss to Texas A&M ‘hurts’

In what has been a very impressive season that few had anticipated earlier this month, Notre Dame’s magical college baseball playoff run has come to an end. The Fighting Irish lost to Texas A&M on Tuesday afternoon, 5-1, handing them their second loss of the tournament, eliminating the Fighting Irish from Omaha.

A pitching error helped open up a three-run third inning for the Aggies, which was then added to the fifth. Texas A&M scored two runs in that inning, opening up a five-point lead that would not be lost. With the win, Texas A&M now advances to face Oklahoma this Wednesday, as Notre Dame’s season is over.

Although the end of the season was disappointing, this year was marked by perhaps the greatest history in college baseball. To reach that point, Notre Dame beat Tennessee at home in the Super Regional, despite the Volunteers being the No. 1 team in the nation all year.
