Olimpiu Morutan in Rangers transfer link as Gio van Bronckhorst ‘looks at’ Ianis Hagi alternative

Rangers have been linked with a transfer of Romanian playmaker Olimpiu Morutan in a deal that closely resembles Ianis Hagi’s transfer to Ibrox.

Gio van Bronckhorst foresees the January window as he looks to win the Premiership title amid a challenge from Celtic.

So far he has focused less on entrants and more on his current Rangers squad.

However, with Connor Goldson and Joe Aribo’s contractual situations high on the priority list, it’s likely he’ll be looking to freshen things up with a new face or two.

And reports in Turkey say that Olimpiu Morutan, who has struggled for playing time at Galatasaray in recent weeks, is in their sights.

Three times Romanian cap, Morutan knows the current playmaker Ibrox Hagi on the international scene.

And it is claimed that the Premiership champions want Morutan to have an initial six-month loan with an option to buy in the summer – an almost exact replica of the deal that brought Hagi to Ibrox.

It is claimed that Morutan is being watched as Rangers expect “serious” offers for Hagi and could be fielded as a replacement.
