Viewers, however, noticed the name of the person the 42-year-old was sitting next to.

Airline pilot Simon sat next to 27-year-old graphic designer Carly.

Together, their names made the name of American songwriter Carly Simon.

Fans took to social media to report the link.

One fan wrote, “Like 2 of the contestants on #TheChase are named Simon and Carly”.

Another praised the producers for putting the pair next to each other, saying, “I love whoever chooses contestants by name on #TheChase.”

Seven times The Chase teammates had a HILARIOUS bond – but did you spot them?

Simon ran through his cash builder with a whopping £7,000 and brought it home safely after beating fighter Paul Sinha.

Although Carly and her compatriot George were both caught by the Sinnerman – leaving Simon and former Army Cadet coach Steph in the final chase.

Not only did the pair take home £9,000 after taking 20 steps in the final pursuit, the Sinnerman had answered 19 with a second to go in a tight finish.

Although Simon’s performance on the hit quiz show caught the attention of viewers.

One viewer said: “Exceptional Simon” before typing an applause emoji.

Another said: “This guy on The Chase is on fire!!!”

And a third proclaimed: ‘Top class from Simon on the hunt’.

Simon explained how he would use his share of the prize money to fund his wife’s lego addiction – as she wants to turn the loft in their house into a lego room.

He also talked about how he planned to visit his brother in Texas.

The show’s producers have made a habit of forming teams with contestants whose names have some kind of connection.

Previous line-ups have included; Ross, Rachael, Phoebe and Joe, as well as Donna, Samantha, Harry and Bill.

The musical teams seem to be the favorite, as one of them included four players named Prince, Tina, Elvis and Adele.
